This is just an FYI for others who are frustrated by this issue. Sure enough that fixed the problem, and I didn't have to go through restoring my apps and files to get it back to my normal. I hadn't noticed the "Reset Settings" option before, but thought I'd try it. Select the contacts you wish to send the message to and then tap. So I was about to do another factory reset when I noticed on the S6 Edge under Settings/Backup and Reset that there were two reset options 1) Factory Reset and the other 2) Reset Settings. From the home screen, tap the Messages icon 2. I've even factory reset my phone which cured it for a small while before doing it again (I think this was because after doing a factory reset, the latest update was applied, and it stopped attaching files again). I tried using different gallery apps, etc. I've tried everything to get it to work again. Select then the 'Send' button from there. Now the right panel will display all the conversation you have saved on your. If the image is displayed, then tap again on the image, so that the Edit-buttons will be showing at the bottom of the display. It displays all the different categories on the left panel. Can't seem to get a definitive answer on what causes/caused this to start happening, but I personally believe that it is tied to one of my carrier's phone updates (mine is Verizon). Open on the Samsung Galaxy S6 as first step the Gallery app, and then search for the picture that you would like to send. Add text if desired, then tap the MMS button to send your image with your text message. Tap the Pen icon to start a new message, or open an existing message thread. Tap the Camera icon to take a picture, or tap the Gallery icon to browse for a photo to attach. Tap the Camera icon to take a picture, or tap the Gallery icon to browse for a photo to attach. 05-20-2015 01:42 PM If you're using Samsung Messages (the app icon looks like a white envelope with a yellow letter coming up from it), tap the paper clip while composing the text and you should get a pop-up with various choices regarding attachments (images, video, etc.). Been fighting with this "unable to attach file" issue for a few months now on my Samsung S6 Edge. Read and reply to text messages with ease, view recent photos from your Android device, use your favorite mobile apps, make and receive calls, and manage. Select the + icon, then choose a recipient or open an existing message thread.
